Why Not a Cake With a Side of Sweet Smorgasbord?
If someone says they don’t love dessert, they're lying.
There's at least one dessert item, or sweet treat, or pastry out there for EVERYONE. Obviously, our favorite is cake.

Cakes are the center of celebrations, and we love to make pieces of art that can also be eaten. However, we recognize the need for variety, so we welcome our new dessert table items! Tiny pieces of edible art. Thanks to our incredible pastry chef, Katrina Miyares, we are now offering French macarons, assorted dessert bars, delectable cookies, mini tarts, and delicious cheese cakes- to name a few! These mini desserts are perfect for any occasions!
We love offering custom dessert table items for weddings, showers, and parties, but customers can also purchase signature items directly from the website! 12 assorted French macaron come in “The Mac Pack” with our favorite flavors- caramel, pistachio, and strawberry. Macarons are a sophisticated and deliciously chewy cookie sandwich. They have subtle decorative detail like a gold splatter or cute sprinkles. They are great on their own, but they are also a part of our Party Pack!
Our Party Pack is another new addition filled with all the treats your heart could desire. It includes our French macarons, cranberry pistachio short bread cookies, mini red velvet cupcakes, cookie butter cream puffs, brown butter funfetti blondies, chocolate chip cookies, blueberry goat cheese cheesecake bars, pastry cream tarts with fresh red berries, and Oreo brownies. There is truly something for everyone at the party. This tray of treats is an incredible addition to everything from girls’ night and parties to engagement dinners and weddings.
For weddings, we always suggest getting a tiered wedding cake to act as your show stopping center piece and provide for a memorable cake cutting moment. Our most popular size is either a 3 or 4 tiered cake to feed about 100 people. And now, to supplement the remaining servings for guests we love to suggest an overflowing dessert table smorgasbord! Dessert tables can be elegant and fun, they can be presented to fit any wedding style or theme with varying cake stands and risers. We love when they are abundant, and overflowing.
Pick from our signature items, or if there is something else you LOVE, we can make that for you! These treats are great because they can be shared, taken home as a thank you, or even taken onto the dance floor for an emergency snack. They provide guests with an excellent variety in which they can help themselves at any point in the night. We always suggest leaving out boxes for people to take items home!

What lights you up most about dessert table items?
“Being able to create and do what I love while making an impact at ECBG, which is a cake shop I’ve admired since finding it. Also knowing that Erin and my teammates, whom I look up to, trust me enough to take ownership of such a project and encourage me to use my creativity to create beautiful and delicious desserts. I also love being able to provide our clients with different dessert experiences in addition to cake.”
What items do you enjoy making the most?
“I hate to say it because they truly get on my nerves at times—macarons. They are so finicky but I get a thrill out of the process. I’ve had many macaron failures throughout my pastry career and it’s the best feeling when those little cookies come out exactly how I want them to. I’m constantly on a quest to make the most perfect macarons and I can confidently say that ECBG has some of the best macarons in Chicago.”

How does it feel when someone is trying your items for the first time?
“Exciting and nerve racking!! I personally love all of our dessert items but I know everyone has different taste so there’s always some nervousness when someone is trying my desserts. There is honestly no better feeling than receiving a positive reaction, especially if they claim to not be a “dessert person.” It’s why I do what I do.”
What do you like making better: cakes or dessert items?
“I love them both almost equally. I don’t have as much experience making cakes so it brings me tremendous gratification when I complete a challenging cake design. Baking on the other hand has always had my heart. Coming up with flavor combinations and testing out different recipes is what is most challenging to me so I also get a lot of fulfillment from that.”
