A Beautiful and Intimate Dessert Spread at Indigo and Violet Studio

These days you can have your cake and eat cupcakes too!

You wouldn’t believe it but I hear “I’m not a cake person” ALL THE TIME and as a total cake person I die a little each time. I will have an 8 tier cake at my wedding… I mean I love cake so much I made a career out of it!

But I totally respect when someone doesn't want cake at all! People are abandoning the traditional wedding cake and going for a wide variety of small treats put on display beautifully. I’m talking dessert stands, candles, gold geometric shapes, floral arrangements, lights, paper flowers, balloons, and backdrops! I’m talking, “Is that a precious gem or is that a truffle?” You guys it’s marvelous.

A lot of my couples want to customize their desserts to represent their personalities, which I am ALL about!

Donuts, cake pops, and tarts are pretty popular in my experience. People are using their dessert to pay homage to their heritage and hometown. One of my favorites was a variety of Kolacky because the groom was Polish. I am Czech so I used my family recipe. I was so nostalgic as I made those little jam filled cookies, and I was so glad they chose something that meant something to them as well, even if it was off the menu!

Cupcakes are great because you don’t need a plate or a fork…just hands and a mouth! They’re great too because if there are multiple flavors you can try one of each! Mini cupcakes are my most popular option because of this. They are so easy to eat which is important when you’re standing, all dolled up, and holding a drink!

Most recently I had a groom request black and white cookies because of his time spent in New York. We jazzed them up bit and made them gold and white cookies instead! The beauty is you can get whatever you want!

I personally love when there is a small cake to cut AS WELL as a variety for your guests. I guess I’m a sucker for that cake cutting moment!
